Butterflies

Yes, I've got butterflies - one of these to be exact.
It's made with a Papermania dimensions punch and I have convinced myself I needed one.

Made a quick tag whilst I was playing around with it.
Papers are K&Co, all the other embellishments are from my matchbox swap, except the little butterfly stickers that were mentioned in my earlier post and came from Paperchase.
Pizza boxes everywhere but not a bite to eat. There's some shopping there, DT work and a lovely prize that I won at the Craft Stamper blog - thank you.

No Pizza to eat as I have been calories counting this week and lost 3lb, yeah!!!

Just Magnolia #43

A sketch this week at Just Magnolia. I've used my new Tilda with strawberry basket.
I've also used a strip of Magnolia Strawberry paper and to make it go as far as possible I've mixed with K&Co papers.
The embellishments are a bit of a mixture, a DCWV rub-on, some more of my QVC flowers and Brenda Pinnick sticker.
These fab puffy stickers are from Paperchase, I bought some sparkly butterfly one's too which I hope will look good on my next Magnolia project.

The week of dancing is finally over and they have gone back to school all bleary eyed even though I had them in bed by 7.30 last night.

There was a little bit of controversy at the awards as The Dinky Diva was moved into the intermediate section where she won 2nd for ballet. This came as a bit of a surprise all round as we weren't expecting it and she has jumped ahead of several older girls. Small-N-Grubby came away empty handed but is determined to carry on, bless him.

Multi Frame

When ever I've had 5 minutes this half term I've been running around gathering up bits and pieces for a project. Finally I've had time to put them all together.
Inspired by a project from the Creative Moments blog party, I've incorporated 4 of my favorite quirkier photos from 2009. All papers, stamps and rub-ons from the BasicGrey Porcelain range.
The bevelled edges allow for a small amount of dimensional detail to be added. I've used Prima and Hero Arts flowers with Papermania jewel centres and punched leaves with a Woodware punch.
I had to stop myself from covering the frames completely with butterfly rub-ons.
Really enjoyed the thrilling live Eastenders last night. Watched the footage on BBC3 afterwards, but the only interview I really wanted to see was with Stacey/Lacey and she wasn't on.

February Half Term

I thought I might elaborate in order to explain myself. You see, the Dinky Diva and Small-N-Grubby are both involved with a local dance studio and every February half term they put on a show. This means that throughout the whole week they are either rehearsing or performing late into the evenings.

So what do you do with them during the days that won't tire them out before it's time to dance. Well you stay in of course, watch DVD's etc until everyone has cabin fever. Then we briefly venture out into the daylight blinking like nocturnal monstrosities before returning to our pit for a snooze until it's time to get dancing.

They love this whole experience of **Putting**On**A**Show**, you have to say that bit whilst waving jazz hands. It's all very grown up staying up late at night. But there are butterflies in tummies which cause bad moods and late nights mean tired bleary eyes. Add to all this the tension of PRIZES. Yes, at the end of the week they give out the annual dance studio awards for most improved, most hardworking and this year a new best show performance award.

The atmosphere here is electric, just watch you don't get shocked.

Happy Valentine's Day

Warning : soppy post content imminent.

Here's the card I made for SMO.
Covering several challenges with this as it is a special one. 1st off I've used the week 7 sketch from Create4Fun. Then the theme for this week's DCM is 'Have a Heart'. I've used a Magnolia Love Sealing image for week 42 at Just Magnolia challenge's 'Love' theme. Lastly the February (challenge 5) theme at the Crafty Calendar Challenge is 'Love & Friendship' which is a good sentiment for me and SMO.
I've used K&Co papers and a bit of lace across the front from the overflow bag that came with my matchbox swap.

If that's me on the front then this must be SMO on the inside of the card.
There was a sentiment on one of the co-ordinating papers and as soon as I read it I knew it was 'right'. As I suspected the recipient didn't look long enough to read it, so it will have to be our little secret.
I was so pleased to get a hold of this mini Magnolia stamp as I don't think they are widely available and I've wanted one ever since I saw them in Magnolia Ink magazine and realised they existed - so that's at least 2 weeks then! Thanks Kimmi, e-mail me when you are having your next stamp turnout ;)

Post Lunch Play

Caught the Branston Pickle having a post lunch play in his highchair and realised I hadn't taken enough photographs of this growing boy. Not nearly enough.
And then he notices me and moves in for a closer look.
And back to playing in the sunshine from the kitchen windows.
I've broken the zip on my coat, which is at least 15 years old, justifiable spending spree imminent!!

Matchbox Swap

I recently entered my 1st, and last!!!, matchbox swap on a forum. It's a great idea in principle you decorate and fill a match box with crafty goodies and then swap them. To begin with when I was just collecting the filling it was quite fun. Like looking for special tiny treasures for a fairy! The feeling didn't last as I realised just how small, fiddly and delicate a homemade cardboard matchbox is!!

Here is the rather more splendid effort I received in exchange. I can't reveal who from as some people in the swap haven't had theirs yet, especially as I only posted mine yesterday - more about that later.
It needed it's own special bag to handle the overflow - wish I'd thought of that. Love the pale blue and chocolate brown colour scheme. Close-up of the beautiful butterfly on the matchbox itself.
Thank you very much secret matchbox sender.

Back to the Post Office .............

It was kind of a weird visit as a woman was being quite impatient with a man in a wheel chair that she was with. He had to go out the ramp door, for obvious reasons, but the shop she was going to next was nearer another door and she was not going to expend the energy needed to walk with him. She stomped off out and left him to meet her. The automatic doors wouldn't open (I often get this with the pushchair as it's too low) and so he was stuck. By then she was back inside talking to him like he was a naughty child, went to go down the ramp with him and the doors jammed shut! Couldn't have happened to a nicer woman I thought, but this still left the man in the wheelchair trapped inside. She started hammering on a window so I mentioned to the cashier that there was a problem and she started shouting "don't force those doors" as a couple of guys started to try beat on them. All turned into a bit of a farce!

My take on the whole thing - typical of a visit to the Post Office!!!

Lurve

With Valentine's day coming up there's lots of love themed challenges about. I didn't want to combine them all on one card so I have just picked a couple.
So this is for the February challenge at By The Cute And Girly and following the sketch at Create4Fun. The stamp is one of my Ebay bargains by Rachelle Anne Miller. I've coloured him following the guide on the packet and then discovered I had some papers I don't normally use in similar shades.
I've held the card open with a punched and layered flower, cutting away one more petal on each layer to make them progressively smaller.

There was a lightening fast sell out of today's TSV on QVC, probably due to the fact that they had half priced Martha Stewart punches. I bought some, it would have been rude not to!

Delilah Golightly

She's a new character designed by Kirsty Wiseman as part of her next digi release, but currently you can get her for free at Kirsty's blog.
I just love that she is GREEN, I like green and mixed with pink is good. I've teamed her up with Papermania Chatsworth papers.
Did a lot of crafting yesterday with very little to show for it as my plans just wouldn't come together. After a bit of experimenting it finally worked and I will have to finish off a few things later today.

Party Makes

I just got the 2 cards made during the blog party yesterday, spent the rest of the time chatting, spending money and discovering fab new bloggers.

The 1st card is for this week's DCM who are looking at the birth stone for February - Amethyst.
I've punched a circle to make a mask and then sponged over it with Dusty Concord distress ink. I then gave it a quick spritz with Hydrangea glimmer mist which is the palest of blues. This gave my moon some slight colour and then gave some sparkle to the inked area. Over stamped my tree with VersaFine and then put the card together inking anything that stood still long enough with more distress ink.

I had a thin off cut of card left which I used for my second card.
I've spritzed Dewberry glimmer mist over some new Glimmer Screens I bought in the sales. The lovely stamp is free on the current Craft Stamper magazine, I've already got 2 other projects on the go with it! I've made the flower following Sandra's tutorial but I've layered up 3 flowers the same size as that's the only punch I had to hand.

I've popped into town today and bought 2 frames to alter one inspired by yesterday's party and another I saw on a blog - I'll give full credits when I blog the finished creations.

Over To You

We've had a great day blog partying and now 2 great bits of news. 1st there are some great prizes to be won if you e-mail your projects in using the sketch from today's party (see the post below.) For details of deadlines, rules and e-mail address have a look at the blog entry here. I've put the sketch on the side bar too.

Now for the second bit of news. It's been such great fun let's do it all again! Mark your calendars for 6 March 2010 for the 2nd part of the Creative Moments big blog party.
Time for a well earned rest now I think, but if you missed any of the fun videos and projects you can still check back over them at the Creative Moments blog. And don't forget to check the blog on Monday to see if you won any of the give aways from today.

I've got some projects to photograph and blog in the morning using today's inspiration.

Party On!!!

Yes the blog party has started over at Creative Moments. There will be projects, inspiration, competitions and giveaways throughout the day.

There is a sketch from Claire to play along with. I've used paper, stickers and rub-ons by American Crafts for my projects. I'm really enjoying playing with the computer at the moment and challenging myself to use text and pictures in different ways. I've made a 'shabby' flower punched from the papers with a Crate Paper brad in the centre.

I've turned the sketch and squashed it down for a card. The stamps and bling are by Kanban.

And I couldn't finish without an ATC.Hop over to the Creative Moments blog to see who else has been playing with the sketch!

I will be hovering over and crafting near my blog all day so leave your comments here too and I will come and visit you!!

Hearts and Flowers

Hearts and flowers are the current theme at Just Magnolia and as there was nothing more specified I have opted to go for something different and made a get well card.
I've used K&Co paper (just one piece as the green flowers were on the back of the blue ones) and a K&Co flower stamp on the background. The extra little creatures are from the 'Boy' Crafters Companion stamp plate. I've given them a bit of glossy accents too.
Off for a hospital appointment later as Branston is having his wobbly legs looked at.

My craft task for tonight is to prepare for the blog party on Saturday, I've got a sketch to try and some new supplies.

Someone Special

Week 86 at Penny Black Saturday Challenge is to make a card for someone special. In my case the challenge has coincided with my sister's birthday. It's a special one but I won't say which as the older she gets the older that must make me!
I've used K&Co paper for the background as well as a K&Co stamp that I got in this bargain kit from QVC last clicks.
The flowers on the tag here....
....are from my other bargain kit.
Just too many bargains at them moment!!

Playing in the Sugar Bowl

I haven't played in the Sugar Bowl before, unless you count when I was a little girl? Grandma always had sugar cubes which have a magnetic fascination for small children, that and powdered glucose that she used to put on her cereal. Sorry, went off into musings there, but it is Monday.

So with my new cache of Sugar Nellie stamps, here is my 1st entry for a Sugar Bowl challenge which was to follow a sketch and use lace ( I hope I have followed all the other rules right).
The stamp is Blossom and I've used K&Co paper with all other stamps from Papermania.
The little bit of lace is actually 'tatting' made by my mum. She made a whole envelope of them for me to put on my cards and this is the 1st bit I've used (because it's the only bit I've been able to find!)
