Whiff of the Weekend

Yes, actually got my Whiff Of Joy entry completed for the weekend. (It's a target I set myself you understand, nothing like giving yourself extra pressures).

Challenge #84 is Fuzz!
After much searching and experimenting (that went in the bin!) I ended up finding some fuzzy ribbon to add to my scalloped circle easel card, cut using the largest of a set of Nestabilities dies. The WOJ Stamp is Henry with Christmas Bauble and I've kept the rest of the card very plain to comply with the challenge at Winter Wonderland not to use designer papers.

The upper circle is embossed with a snowflake design from Spellbinders Impressibilites. It wasn't as deeply etched as I would have liked. If anyone knows the correct sandwich for putting these through a Big Shot/Kick please let me know.

My list of challenges for this card are :
Whiff Of Joy #84 - Fuzz
Creative Inspirations #71 - Animals
Winter Wonderland - No designer papers
Stamp Something - Christmas in July

It's the 1st of the month tomorrow (I know, already!) so please drop by for the latest By The Cute And Girly challenge and to see my DT makes.

Heartbreak and Candy

Well the 2 do go together don't they?

Good evening, it's been a lovely day here and I'm late blogging because the family have been shoe shopping. Bleurgh! Those that didn't need them wanted them, those that needed them couldn't be bothered and SMO fell asleep in the corner, you know how it goes. I bought a new pair anyway!

Don't worry, in the end the only heartbreak was this guy....
Heartbreaker Edwin. Coloured with Copics and layered up with silicon glue (I always use foam pads cos I'm lazy, but the silicon does look better no?)
I've used Just Magnolia's sketch #66 with My Mind's Eye papers. The blue flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the green ones are QVC. I cut a whole batch of mats once I had the Sizzix out and embossed a few too. Funny how you rediscover things you haven't used for a while. That leads me on a quest for new dies and folders though.

Yes, I hear you say, that's all very well but didn't you mention candy? Well, yes I did and I'm launching my 1st ever blog candy for a couple of reasons. I've exceeded 750 posts, which means I talk too much. However, the summer holidays are here and I'm not sure when I will get time for crafting or blogging. So what shall I do..........SUMMER CANDY.
There's a Heartbreaker Edwin just like the one I've used for my card, a roll of Hobbycraft ribbon, some Panduro heart brads and just a few of my Wild Orchid Crafts flowers.

The candy will run until 30th August. Add a comment to this blog post and post a bit about it on your blog if you're able to. I will attempt to send to anywhere in the bloggosphere so open to all. Winner to be picked randomly and announced once I've got the kids back to school!

I have a few projects on the go at the moment, so hopefully I'll be able to blog them over the weekend.

And now for something completely different.......

In my blogging travels recently for By The Cute And Girly and discovered Taylored Expressions and their sketch #122. For me, and the person who I followed there, it was the kind of sketch that just compels you to create. So here is my very literal interpretation of it.
The papers are K&Co and the ribbon is an old left over from a magazine freebie. I couldn't see any rules on the blog about what products to use so I'm entering anyway.

That's it for me today. Thanks to everyone who dropped by yesterday, I will have visited you all by the end of the day. Please leave me a comment even if it's just to say that you dropped by!

Waders at Sunset and WOYWW

I'm even giving my 'art' names now!
This is the finished 6x4 version of the mini canvas. I'm having fun with these so no doubt I will bore you with more.

My desk looks like this.
That's not unusual but I am declaring this the official before photo. A tidy is coming ( not a total tidy you understand, it wouldn't be my desk if it was totally tidy). I'm clearing out old stash and making the things I use more accessible, sounds simple eh?

My current project is this.
It's a box that I bought a small purse in at the weekend, it will be converted to something else by next WOYWW. I've already made a tag with the hanger part here.

Hop off to Julia's if you want to see some more workspaces in her weekly event for the crafting curious (nosey).

A Nautical Summer Breeze

Magnolia-licious Highlites are on a nautical bloghop and have a nautical themed challenge.
I've made my base from Little Yellow Bicycle card which was so pretty I didn't want to cover it up too much. So, I add my Tilda coloured with copics, a seagull from the Inkadinadoo pack I used on the canvases and a compass from High Hopes.

I'm also entering this one for the summer days challenge #2 at Bunny Zoe's Crafts and Wild Orchid Challenge #2 - Lovely Lace (the lace on this one is Fancy Pants and I really want to get some more of it but it's an old pack).

Inchies Tags

Yesterday's new theme at Tag You're It was to use inchies to decorate tags. I've stamped out a background by Hero Arts and cut it up to make.......

A multi-inchies tag.
A recycled single inchie tag.
And even used the leftovers to make an ATC.
Photographed on my new mini easel of course!

I've removed the option for Anonymous comments from my blog today. I very rarely get Anonymous comments that aren't spam and I'm bored with wasting precious minutes finding and deleting them. Hopefully this won't prevent anyone from leaving genuine comments which are always welcome.

10 minute art

Picked up this little easel and canvas at The Works yesterday, going to have to go back for more!! The canvas is just slightly larger than an ATC and the easel will be perfect for photographing my ATCs on.
It's for Oh Alice's challenge #23 - Birds. I can't pretend a lot of work went into it. The wader is from Inkadinkado's bird assortment and it's stamped with VersaFine ink (put a spare acrylic block inside the canvas to make the surface firmer). I've then spritzed water over washable felt tips to make the background (mine are French Stabilo's). Used a black pen for the flying birds and a white pencil to highlight the lighter areas of the sea in the centre of the panel. Finally I've added a bit of colour to the bird with Distress Inks. It was fun so I've already started on a bigger version.

Discovered these in Marks and Spencer yesterday.
Melt in the mouth, wonderful and delish.

And I've got flowers too.

Vintage flowers

Spent some time relaxing today watching crafts on QVC and making this card.
It's for the vintage theme at Just Magnolia, challenge #65. I've coloured the image with Distress Inks and the lace on the right is tatting and was made by my mum. The papers are from K&Co, I think the giant paper pad I bought from QVC must be one of my best ever purchases.
I'm also including this one in Create4Fun #52 - flowers.
I've used some of my Wild Orchid Crafts stash, including one of the bigger roses and a stem of jewels. I've been thinking maybe I ought to share some of my flowers, just a few?

ATC Swap

The Branston Pickle is feeling a little better today so I thought I would grab half an hour to make some ATCs for The Stamp Man's July swap - Wings, or I was in danger of missing the deadline.
I love this little shocked chap from BasicGrey he seems so surprised to find himself stood there in his bow tie. I've stamped and splodged the background with whatever came to hand and I have to thank TD from the DoCrafts forum for the padded wings that she sent me.
Made myself a little bookmark too.

Quick Tag

The Branston Pickle is a poorly boy again. He has a raging temperature, probably his tonsils have flared up again. He's having a nap right now so I've snuck off for a quick cuppa and a blog. I haven't been able to make my usual Thursday morning WOYWW visits and my DT commenting is a bit behind too, I'll see if I get a chance to hop on here again later today. The sky is black and it's pouring with rain so I'm not likely to be going anywhere in a hurry.

Before my little pickle started to get poorly yesterday I started stamping up a tag for Tag You're It - Black and White with a hint of Gold.
I had planned to find a coin to pop on it and maybe a meaningful quote but...ooo now it's thundering............it just isn't going to happen now and I quite like the more minimalist outcome. Off to count the seconds between the flashes and the bangs.

WOYWW

Something new on my workdesk today. New Copics storage. Actually remembered to take a piccie yesterday when there was some sunshine.
Whilst searching around for something to keep my pens in I saw this and thought perfect I can shove 'em in a Ranger bucket. Not too expensive either and they aren't packed in too tightly so room for at least a dozen more. There's space around the outside too for my black and white liner pens.
Finding the handles quite useful as well as I often craft in different rooms. Let's see your craft spaces today and if you want to link up or have a nosey then head over to Julia's blog here.
We took the family to see Strikepoint in concert last night. They play the hand bells like I have never seen them played before. It was an amazing, fun night. Check out the youtube footage on their blog. The last date of their UK tour is in Cobham tonight if you can get tickets, go!

WOJ Christmas Card

Yeah, a Christmas card for today's challenges.
ScrapGirl's challenge had some very specific requirements, it had to be an easel card. had to be in brown and red, and she has said she is partial to the holidays.
Then there was Winter Wonderland, a challenge I swore I would follow to get my supply of Christmas cards made well in advance. Haven't made many but July must be a good starting place. Their theme is 'glittery angels' and although she isn't an actual angel she is very angelic and very glittery.
Last and definitely not least is Whiff of Joy challenge #83 which provided the sketch.

WOJ on a Monday

Bit late for a Whiff of the Weekend so it's WOJ on a Monday instead. I've used an image from a swap, hope that's OK? Fifi, yours are in the post.
I've made this card for Katharina's 'Summer' challenge. I've used the sketch at Create4Fun #29 with a bit of twisting. The papers are K&Co Wild Raspberry. As you can see I've broken into my Wild Orchid flower prize!
The colours started out as Warm Pink, Chocolate and White for Colour Create challenge #49, but I got a bit carried away with the summer theme. There was an additional element or 'Girly' at Colour Create so my party girl fits in with that too.

The Rainbows went to a centenary garden party yesterday afternoon and had a blast. That's the last event for us until the new term in September, I'm looking forward to the break!!

Have you seen... and pixie update

Have you seen the new range at Paperchase? It's called Day Trippers and features cute Gorjuss style characters.
They'd make great papercrafting supplies, if only. But there are stickers and badges that could be incorporated into projects. Oh, and I couldn't resist a pencil case too!
Got one picture of the Branston Pickle in his pixie outfit, even including hat - what more could I want.
He chose to accessorise the outfit with wellies.
Today I'm busy sorting out unwanted stuff for a nearly new sale.

Fairies and Pixies

Went to a rather wet b-b-q last night for the scout groups end of term do. That's the 2nd year running that we've nearly drowned at this event! There was time for a few games before the heavens opened.
Once the children had been dried off, had hot choc and gone to bed I had a fancy dress costume to make. Small-N-Grubby is going to a Fairies and Pixies party at play group. This is the back view of his outfit.
The white bits are wings, do pixies have wings?
Well my little pixie does. If I can persuade him to put it on I will take his picture!
That was my crafting time for last night, off to party with the pixies now.

Tag and Card

That's what I have to blog today a tag and a card.

The tag is for this week's Tag You're It - By The Beach.
The stamp is from Stamposaurus and I have the larger version too. Never got around to stamping with them before, I think I will try to get a summer birthday card made with them.

The card is for the current theme at the Daring Card Makers - Silhouettes.
The cat came from a swap - thank you, sorry I can't remember who from all my swaps are in a little box together. The wall is from my Patchwork Pals collection and getting their box out to make this I realised they were sadly neglected. So to rectify this I have started work on one of my projects for August's By The Cute And Girly using some stamps from their range that I haven't even inked up before.

Back to the card, I'm also entering it at Caardvarks as their theme is Birthday cards.

WOYWW and thank yous

The leaning tower of stash is overflowing even more today with the addition of this lovely box of goodies from Wild Orchid Crafts.I only won it on Monday and it's here already! Thanks very much for the incredibly generous prize.

I can't wait to get started with all of those but my current projects aren't particularly flowery.

There's this week's Tag You're It which I'll blog tomorrow and a cat silhouette for the Daring Card Makers which will also be completed for tomorrow. The other lovely collection of tags on the right are from the June tag swap at Tag You're It, thank you ladies.

Was planning to go clothes shopping today but it's raining again. I don't fancy trying stuff on with wet clothes and shoes. I do need some new stuff though as my weight loss has now reached 22 lbs and I really can't continue to slop around in my old maternity gear.

Completely forgot to link up to Julia for the other WOYWW visits, oops. All sorted.

A summery canvas in blue

Mum is 75 this week, I don't think she is shouting it from the roof tops but I thought I would just let the entire world know (if they care to look here of course!)

I've made her a little canvas to fit with some challenges and there's a little '75' hidden on there too.
It's all in blue for this week's theme at Sunday Stamper. The flower is a Penny Black image.I've painted the canvas with acrylic in blue and cream and then just decorated it, spritzed it and rubbed metallic wax on it. I'm also entering it for:

If you have any summer creations there's still time to enter this month's challenge at By The Cute And Girly too.

Wild about Wild Orchid

Wild Orchid Crafts have launched a new fortnightly challenge site and I am beyond excited to have won their launch prize!

There's more goodies up for grabs on their 1st challenge 'Say it with flowers'.
Luckily I was just completing a little flowery number this morning for Just Magnolia #63 recipe - 3 flowers, 2 papers and 1 ribbon (or bit of string in my case).

My papers are from the My Minds Eye pack currently free with CardMaking and PaperCraft magazine.

We stormed through the dance exams on Sunday, 3 of which we don't get the results for until later in the summer. The medals, however, get presented straight away. Dinky Diva got a junior silver medal for 'Where has my little dog gone'.
And Small-N-Grubby got a baby silver cup for 'Chim chim cheree'.
Cor blimey Mary Poppins.

Love Football?

Not a lot of blogging going on around here the last few days. I've been completing a couple of submissions, so nothing to share at the moment, fingers crossed though.

Dug out this old competition entry in honour of the day. It's no secret though that actually I hate football with a passion! I know it's the final today due to lack of television programs to watch tonight. I think the orange ones might be in it from some pics I've seen on blogs I follow but that is the extent of my knowledge.

My day is going to be spent at the dance studios where the sproglets will be taking part in the summer term exams and medals. Wish us luck!

One more thing ticked on the to do list.

WOYWW

Wednesday again and there is not a lot of crafting going on here.....
It all looks the same as usual. I need new storage for my copics, they won't fit into their posts anymore. I've a couple of larger projects to get underway this week and then I might slip in a few tags and ATCs too.

One of the bigger items needing my attention involves this...............
Branston Pickle's playhouse has arrived and needs to be assembled, help!

Nearly forgot, check out more desks over at Julia's here.

Off the radar......

................... again this weekend, because it was time for camping! We had a fabby time and it went really well. The children can't wait to do it again.
Oh and we took this one with us too.
He did his best to get into as much monkey business as possible.

Full update to follow, I'm knee deep in washing and dusty groundsheets.
