Getting Inky

As part of my plans to spend less in 2013 I want to spend more time with my inks and sprays, after all I've invested enough in them over the years.  I had some 'play' time yesterday and decide to work with the colours for this week's Daring Card Makers Challenge.  Check them out, if you haven't already, I found them irresistible!  Here's my card.

In this month's Craft Stamper there's an article by Paula Whittaker called 'A Fine Romance' and that was the look I was going for on my card, but not using the same techniques.  Now when I said spend less, I am not on a total new stash ban.  That would be like starting a diet that didn't allow you to eat chocolate, impossible and down right insane!  When I do spend it will be on bargains or small amounts of the latest must haves to cleverly (hopefully!) intersperse with my existing supplies.  For example this stamp set which I knew I would use and at £2.50, I new I could afford.
The hand drawn look will be great on journal pages and mixed media canvases, something I wasn't particularly creating when these stamps first came out.  I've used a flower that's hidden at the top of the stamp set for my card and added the text from a free set of DoCrafts Woodland Folk stamps.

The Distress Ink colours are Broken China and Antique Linen, but my applicator tool was already contaminated with Gathered Twigs, so it's blended to a darker colour in places.

The first of my new Guest DT projects tomorrow and 2/3rds of the children back to school, decorations still up in case you were wondering!!
