Kylah

This is Kylah and she is one of the lovely new digi stamps I chose as a prize from In Style Stamps (see the post below).
I've used those My Minds Eye papers again from Cardmaking and Papercraft, the colours go so well with Copic pen Rose Red R85. I've glittered her wings.
and the flowers have little RainDots in the middle. I've used a Fiskars squeeze punch to make the spikey shapes behind the flowers.

I'm still working on the new and improved craft area for 2010, but I don't think the unveiling will be for some time!! Meanwhile I have some birthday cards to make and a serious Ebay addiction to crack.

Shock!!

Yes I'm in shock, I've won Copic Colour Challenge #48 with the card I blogged here, how exciting is that?

I haven't been blogging or crafting the last few days, I've been spending. The sooner the sales end the better, but by then all the new stock from CHA will be shipping in and I already have my eye on a couple of things.

Funky Kits January sale ends in a few days and until then there are 10 Sugar Nellie stamps at half price. Here's my haul.
I've also been beguiled by the evils of Ebay and have 5 items on the way from there too. I still don't quite understand why people bid so much for things. I have been very good and used my IExplorer tabs to check the shop prices before I get carried away!

I'm also fond of Last Clicks at QVC, where they sell off low stock items at silly prices. Currently winging their way to me from them are 10 packs of flowers (along with a 12x12 pad of paper and some stencils) for £10.

All I have to do now is combine my Copics, new stamps and flowers and get creating.

Watch this space!!!

January DT Projects

The January DT work has safely reached its home in Yeovil and these are some of my projects this time.

As soon as I opened the box I spotted this Twiddleybitz princess carriage.
I got started on it straight away thinking it was going to be a lot of work but it was quicker than I thought and used far less supplies than I had expected.

I had already planned an album before I saw the carriage. It's full of insrpirational quotes and made from an old Christmas card box using supplies from the Crate Paper Cottage collection.
My supplies also included the Crate Paper Season collection which I used on this notebook.
I always have a notebook for the year that I jot down all my ideas in. I'm always putting it down somewhere and panicking that I won't find it again.

Of course I made some cards too!
There was a lot of pink in the pack including Smirk, Scenic Route and Love Elsie goodies which reminded me of this picture I had of Branston last summer in his sister's old pink PJ's.

Keeping Warm.....

That's the theme for challenge #4 at the Crafty Calendar Challenge. I couldn't really find the image I wanted in my stash, then I saw that there was a sketch at Moving Along With The Times that also specified a digi element was needed for the challenge. So I drew the image I wanted (using a how to draw Manga guide I have been reading), scanned it on and added a digi frame to give a round appearance for the sketch.

I've also turned it upside down and changed the position of the embellishments slightly to come up with this.

I've chosen the colour scheme of Burgundy and Teal for Winter Wonderland #34, although I see challenge #35 is already out today!

Inside the card I've printed a 2nd digi panel but this time covered the image with a space to write in.

SMO is ill today so this is just a quick respite on the PC for me and then back to mum, nurse, entertainer, chef, etc, etc.

Multi-tasking

I made a very hard working card last night - it has to cover multiple challenges, not something I often do but I am determined to be a more organised crafter this year. Having said that I wanted to use some Papermania Chatsworth papers but I couldn't find them anywhere!
I have based the design on Creative Inspirations challenge #44 sketch. The classic sketch was created by Nat another Creative Moments designer and I've turned mine around and altered the sentiment shape.

The papers I used in the end were free with this month's (issue 75) of Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine. The colours I have chosen for Tilda are from Copic Colour Challenge 48.

Finally I had intended the theme to be for the Just Magnolia thank you challenge but I've managed to miss the deadline on that one - well you can't become too organised all at once!!!

Blue 4 U

The latest theme at Cuttlebug Challenge is to make a Valentine's ATC. I love ATCs so this was one I wasn't going to miss. I've chosen a blue colour scheme.
(Sorry dreadful pictures today due to miserable weather!) I've run some Core-dinations Black Magic through a Swiss Dots folder and then distressed it with a file. The strip of blue is made by just reversing a scrap of the same card. I've got quite a few new stamps to try out at the moment and this heart scroll one is a little Snag 'ems 99p job, it just would have been rude not to buy it!

There was enough of the dotted panel to cut a 2nd ATC which I threw together using old supplies.
**** Exciting news ****
If you haven't already noticed my note at the top of the page, Creative Moments are having a blog party on 6th Feb. Drop in on the day to join in with the fun, give-aways and prizes. Drop in and visit me too as I will be joining in on the day.

Lets Play Peeka!

For those who are not parents, or students for that matter, and don't know what on earth I'm on about it's a phrase from Waybaloo, the mind altering children's programme on CBeebies. Branston is particularly fond and LauLau is his current favorite. He has even been known to say 'Balooooo'.

In my case we're playing peeka with my latest DT work for Creative Moments. I've finished making and I'm now on the typing up of instructions so I won't show the full pictures until the projects have safely reached Yeovil. But in the meantime here are some peeks at the lovely materials I had to play with.
Yesterday was miserable Monday. I had a dental appointment for a filling and still feel like I had botox and a lip plump. I think one of the things I dislike, hate most about visiting the dentist is the abusive nature of the relationship between dentist and patient. They bash you around and then send you home drooling!

Mini Gig

A bit like the Guides 'Big Gig' but only mini-er, with littler people and just one band. But still, a long time since I saw a live band and taking 5 year olds to see their 1st rock band was a fun experience!
Is it obligatory now that if you are in a band at least one person must be wearing a hat at all times?

The Dinky Diva was there too with the Brownies as it was a cross section centenary event. She absolutely loved it. There were so many girls there from across the area we met up with people we hadn't seen for ages - friends and fun!

My Rainbows thought it was very giggly (as they do about most things!) that the singer's shadow kept appearing in different colours on the wall.
It was one of those times I really wished I had taken my bigger camera, I must get used to grabbing it instead/as well as the compact.

Right, back to the crafting.

Shopping!!

Actually got into town and did some shopping today for the 1st time in 2 weeks.
Aren't these cute (50p at the side for scale).....
They are 0.07L and 0.14L and I couldn't resist them. They are also sat on the new scarf I bought myself.

Crafting planned all weekend, apart from a break Saturday afternoon for a Guiding event.

Snow Has Fallen Snow On Snow, Snow On Snow

Yep another couple of inches of snow last night and the schools are closed again this morning. Everything seems much whiter than last week. I think it's because the snow has fallen onto frozen snow and every millimetre of it has stayed there.

There's just one solitary bit of wildlife huddled in the garden.
Well there is another wild thing but that only goes out when I force it to.
"Stop taking stupid pictures and let me in!".

I've ordered some new storage in an attempt to kick start the new year tidy-up, just as soon as the DT work is finished. I've decided to go with Really Useful Boxes as I have started collecting them and I want to get rid of all the shoe boxes! Eventually I might have to splash out on custom made storage shelves from Storage4Crafts.

Rising Star

The Dinky Diva asked me for some copies of photos taken this Christmas and, without any prompting from me, produced this. (All made with free cover gifts from magazines).
I think she is a little star and I'm glad at least someone is getting some crafting done in this house!

I'm not going to attempt to blog anything else as the PC is really playing me up today and has had to be restarted twice already. I've got some other peoples blog candy to spread the word about but it will have to wait until tomorrow. Or maybe the next day as I have just remembered I have the dentist in the morning. Let's hope there will be a blizzard tonight so I can't go!?!?

Monday Musings

It's another Monday and the kids have finally gone back to school. Got SMO to take them as the pavements are frozen solid and he just seems to slide about unbothered. More heavy snow is threatened tomorrow before there is finally some hope of a warm up at the end of the week.

There was a beautiful sunset on Saturday night heralding a clear cold day on Sunday.
I had hoped to really get back into some blog challenges this week (in between having a grand turn out like everyone else in the country seems to be), but a fabulous hoard of craft supplies has arrived from Creative Moments so I shall be busy making lots and lots of samples for the next show.

Included in the package was one of these!
Getting messy with paints and inks, will share the details once its all done and safely sent off.

2010 Calenders

Another snow day again today and the kids are really getting bored as the fighting started straight after breakfast. I have had to promise them a go on Club Penguin if they let me update my blog in peace!!

They and all their friends seem to be Club Penguin obsessed. Which was fine when they were happy just to go on the free site. Now they want monthly membership, trading cards and toys! Small-N-Grubby has his eye on a particularly fine igloo for £25, just after they have had goodness knows what for Christmas. Doh!

As the equivalent of the spy kit I made for Small-N-Grubby (blogged previously), I made the Dinky Diva some penguin stationery, this is the bookmark.
Reading Kathy's blog this morning reminded me that I haven't blogged my calendar makes this year. It basically involved lots of notebooks and post-it note pads covered and then little calendars added to the front.
I really enjoyed making them and think I might try them out at craft fairs this year.
Right that's me done for the moment, now what was their penguin called?

Another Snowy Day

Except today we have some sunshine, which was absent all day yesterday.

We ventured out before lunch in the end as we couldn't wait any longer for the weather to brighten up.

The Dinky Diva managed to look quite sophisticated.

She has said she will never cut her hair again, which should be interesting. She hates those wellies and is after some more grown up ones.

Small-N-Grubby....
wisely he thought better of bunging that at me and chucked it at the fence instead.

And lastly Branston himself who absolutely adored the white stuff and didn't want to come in.
We jointly made a snow creature.
and even managed to get the picture shown on children's tv which made the kids day.

Got through the day with no fighting, shouting sulking or strops, not sure if we will be as successful today - novelty worn off, snack foods running out!

This morning is much colder and the back window looked like this first thing.
Not sure if we will venture out today or not. I've got lots of craft sales parcels on the way from Christmas voucher spending but I don't know if they will get through yet?

White Out

Yep, I think it must be snowing everywhere today! My 1st entry of 2010 is about SNOW!

I have been taking pictures stood in the back doorway. We are planning on venturing out after lunch as it is supposed to have eased up a bit by then.

We haven't had as much snow as some areas, about this much.
The Hairy Horror only took this many steps and then came back in.
I've been obsessed with photographing snowflakes, throwing the background out of focus and just trying to capture the falling snow.
I keep seeing that the falling flakes have got bigger and then rushing off to try again. This is my favorite flake so far!
Really hope I can get outside properly later.

P.S. making a few changes on the blog layout, fed up with my 3 columns not going where I want them. If anything isn't looking right please comment and let me know! I've also blogged over at I {Heart} Patchwork Pals.
